Corrosion Technician

Corrosion Technician Primary purpose:
To provide a high level of technical support on a regionalor system basis relating to corrosion control and pipeline integrity. Design and maintain cathodic protection andinternal corrosion control facilities. Conduct internal and external specialized corrosion tests on steelstructures. Level 1 is an entry level position with approximately six to twelvemonths of training/work experience in order progress to next level.
Corrosion Technician Essential duties and responsibilities:
Responsible for all activities related tocorrosion control and pipeline integrity, including design, installation,operation, and maintenance, cathodic protection facilities, power lines,galvanic anodes and internal corrosion control facilities.
Monitor the condition of the pipeline throughpipe-to-soil potentials, visual inspection, examination of coupons, data fromin-line tools, etc.
Monitor electrical isolation and identify pointsof electrical shorts.
Conduct various tests, measurements, and surveysto ensure efficient operation of cathodic protection facilities.
Lead efforts to design and implement effectivelong term cathodic protection systems. Prepare drawings, job specifications and contract bid documents.
Assist E&C and Engineering personnel withthe evaluation / development / implementation and maintenance of facilitygrounding systems.
Identify, report and correct safety andenvironmental concerns.
Complete appropriate documentation andpaperwork.
Oversee the construction and/or work activitiesperformed by third parties.
Perform all work in compliance with Companystandards, procedures, and regulatory and tariff requirements.
Demonstrate performance toward operationalexcellence.
Mentor fellow employees when the opportunitypresents itself.
Deal with a wide variety of people with tact,courtesy and professionalism.
Speak clearly, both in person and by telephone,using a high level of verbal skills and listen carefully.
Maintain a regular, dependable attendance and aconsistently high level of performance.
Will work non-traditional hours as needed.
Will maintain Operator Qualification on allassigned covered tasks as determined by direct Supervisor.

Minimum requirements:
Associate's degree from an accredited institution in a technical field or a related discipline.
Experience/Specific Knowledge:
Understand and operate all corrosion relatedinstrumentation.
Good record of safe work practices.
Working knowledge of environmental and safetyaspects of coating projects.
Ability to complete work assignments withminimal supervision in an acceptable time frame.
Ability to operate and maintain chemicalinjection and pressure access equipment.
Ability to estimate installation, operating andmaintenance expenses associated with corrosion systems.
Intermediate proficiency level in MS Officeapplications that may include but are not limited to Excel, Word, Access,PowerPoint and Outlook.
Certifications, Licenses & Registrations:
May be required to achieve and maintaincertifications as required to perform job duties.
Must possess and maintain a valid driver'slicense and a driving record satisfactory to the company and its insurers (fortravel).

Working Conditions:
Varying working conditions from office settingsto working outdoors in inclement weather conditions
Working with and around industrial hazards.
Frequent travel, sometimes overnight, may berequired.
Occasional overtime may be required.
Living environs will be relevant to the worklocation to address call outs and emergency response.
May be required to carry a cell phone, and beavailable to respond during working and non-working hours.
The successful candidate will be required toclear a drug screen and a complete background check, including credit reportfor certain positions, after an offer has been extended and prior to beingemployed.
Supervisory Responsibility:
Above the minimum requirements; not required butadvantageous in this position:
NACE certification
Experience in all phases of corrosion controland pipeline integrity as described in the Job Responsibilities.
Experience with CPDM and RStreng.
Previous working knowledge of AC and DCelectrical systems, corrosion related portions of NEC, and NACE standards.
Prior knowledge of company policies and DOTregulations.
Knowledge and experience with safe handlingpractices of products (gas and liquids).

The fraudster will send a check to the victim who has accepted a job. The check can be for multiple reasons such as signing bonus, supplies, etc. The victim will be instructed to deposit the check and use the money for any of these reasons and then instructed to send the remaining funds to the fraudster. The check will bounce and the victim is left responsible.
